Where are the Carpathians?
On the map
Many have heard of mountains such as the Carpathians. However, where are the Carpathians, they do not know everything. Most people think that the Carpathians are located exclusively on the territory of Ukraine. But in fact, this mountain system extends to such European countries as Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, and partly - Austria. This mountain system belongs to the Alpine ridge.
In Ukraine, the Carpathians are located in its western part - Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Transcarpathian regions (a total of about 100-120 km). The highest point of the Ukrainian Carpathians is Mount Goverla, whose height is 2061 meters. And the highest point of the Carpathians is in the Czech Republic — it is Gerlachowski-Stit Mountain or simply Gerlach (Tatra massif), its height is more than half a kilometer more than Hoverla, and is 2655 m.
The length of the Carpathian Mountains from west to east from Slovakia (namely, from Bratislava) to the Romanian Iron Gate is 1.5 thousand kilometers.
