What is bobsled?

If you wondered what is bobsled, then most likely you listened or watched a sports channel, because this word refers to the field of sports.

Bobsleigh is a winter sport in which participants compete in the downhill on a specially equipped ice track on the so-called bean - a special sleigh.

In bobsleigh teams of two or four participants compete, i.e. separately two beans and four beans. Beans are manageable. Therefore, one of the athletes is a pilot, and the other (others) - accelerating (s).

The route itself has the shape of a winding gutter, there are almost only continuous turns and turns. With the passage of the route, it is important not to touch the edges of the gutters, so as not to lose precious time. The bobsled score is not for seconds, but for hundredths and thousandths of a second!

After acceleration, the pilot first jumps into the bob, followed by the accelerators in turns.

Is it easy to be a bobsledder?

From the side, it may also seem that the crew has nothing left to do except to surrender to the laws of physics and rush along the highway, as horrible,However, this is not so: even at such a furious speed, the pilot clearly controls what is happening and amends it. Those who consider bobsled sledding can be offered to ride the car with the doors open on summer tires along the icy road at a speed of 120 km / h and at the same time make turns at full speed. In a word, this sport (like any other) cannot be called light.

By the way, the average length of the route is about 1.5 - 2 km.

Bobsleigh is included in the Winter Olympic Games.

In 2014, at the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russian athletes in the men's bobsleigh won gold medals in both twos and fours.
