The writing on the story "Taras Bulba": features and characteristics of the characters
“Taras Bulba” is a work that carries the deepest moral questions. This is a historical story, in which a large number of actors. It was written by Gogol in 1835.
Characters of the work
In the composition based on Gogol's story “Taras Bulba”, it can be pointed out that the work includes a large number of heroes representing a whole gallery of truly national characters. They reflect the image of the entire nation, its traditions, as well as the character traits inherent in true heroes: selflessness, heroism, love of country. On the other hand, it is worth noting that the characters in the story are depicted by the author very realistic. They are characterized by ordinary human feelings, which are peculiar to each, regardless of age.
Image of the Bulba
In the work on the essay on the story "Taras Bulba" it is also necessary to tell about the main character of the story. This is a Cossack named Taras Bulba. This character has no real prototype in the story. Taras is a real warrior who has seen a lot in his lifetime. The return of the sons from the teaching is a real joy for the father. However, he is able to contain his emotions and does not give his mother plenty to admire his sons. Almost immediately, the old Cossack begins to gather on the road to show Ostap and Andria life in the Sich.
Bulba distinguished himself during participation in many battles; he always sought to be the first to rush into battle. He did not like that Poland had an impact on the nobility. The old Cossack did not approve of the fact that noble people were eager to be like the Poles. Taras Bulba is a simple person. Meanwhile, the Polish pans humiliated the common inhabitants and oppressed them. In the essay on the story "Taras Bulba" you can indicate that the old Cossack set for himself three rules according to which it was possible to take up the sword. First, if someone does not render reverence to the older Cossacks; secondly, if there was a mockery of the Orthodox faith; thirdly, the right thing for him was to raise a saber against a bowman or a Turk.
The stubbornness of the old Cossack
The writing on the story “Taras Bulba” can be continued by the fact that events in the Sich are not developing as Bulba had planned. Feeling the fear that his sons will ruin themselves in idle festivities, he decides to go to Poland. However, Koshevoy does not want to violate the peace treaty between the states and refuses the old Cossack. And all the plans of Bulba could never have been realized if he had not had a stubborn and persistent character. The old Cossack decides to organize a coup. Koshevo loses the right of power.
When Taras Bulba finds out that Andriy betrayed the Cossacks, he decides to look into his son’s eyes and after that to avenge him for his deed. In the work “Taras Bulba - the main hero of Gogol’s story” a schoolchild can indicate that Andriy’s deed contradicted those values that Taras and other Cossacks had. At the same time, by killing his son, Bulba imposes a sentence on himself as a father. Indeed, among the battle-hardened warriors, Andriy, in his opinion, is a weakling. In the work "Betrayal in the story" Taras Bulba "," the student can take one or another point of view. However, it is impossible to give a definite answer, whose values are higher - service to the partnership or love.Taras Bulba and Ostap sacrifice their lives, but it also took quite a bit of courage for Andria to leave his former life and family for his beloved.
The protagonist and relationship to the partnership
In the work “Taras Bulba - the hero of Gogol’s story” a schoolchild can emphasize that the meaning of the life of a Cossack is the service of his faith, as well as the defense of his homeland. He is ready to sacrifice his existence for his friends, Ukraine and the Orthodox faith. Bulba has a bad attitude towards the Poles and is ready to fight them to the last drop of blood. It is also necessary to note the attitude of the Cossack to the partnership. Before the start of the battle, the Cossack inspires his warriors to win, waters them with wine, adjusts them to battle, protect their native land. The Cossack believes that there is no bond that could be stronger than a partnership. When he dies, he also cares not about himself, but about his fellow soldiers. He is happy that his friends were able to sail away from the enemy. For the sake of his native land and faith, he sacrifices his life.
The writing "Andriy in the story" Taras Bulba "": the image of a peace-loving hero
During the long journey to the Sich, Andriy reflects on the much beloved by him of the picture. He saw the beauty while he was studying at the seminary and then fell in love at first sight. Pannochka answered him in return. When, after a long separation, Andriy meets the girl again, he feels real joy and decides to fight for her. Bulba considers this a betrayal and kills his son.
Describing these events, we can conclude about the character of Andria. His values are contrary to the principles on which his brother and father live. He does not want war, for him the main thing is peace and love. He is merciful and sensitive, despite the fact that he grew up among those people for whom the main value is the battle. But Andriy had his own worldview. He loved to enjoy beauty in trifles, long walks in the city. His heart was filled with love.
The image of Ostap
In the essay on the story "Taras Bulba" can be separately noted Ostap, the eldest son of Taras. Ostap is stubborn and proud, he does not forgive insults and is ready to stand up to death in his honor, even if she was hurt and jokingly. He misses his mother, wants to rest, but goes to military training. And this suggests that he honors the authority of elders. The fervor of his character does not interfere with obeying orders.
Ostap shows himself as a true man in a clash with the Poles. He courageously engages in battle and does not pity himself. In battle, he demonstrates agility and strength. Despite the fact that the army of Poles outnumber the army of Taras in numbers, its fellow tribesmen, unlike the enemy army, are fearlessly sacrificing themselves. They are fighting for life and death, because they want to avenge the constant raids and carried away the lives of wives, mothers and sisters. In other words, Ostap is not bloodthirsty in nature. He becomes one when he wants to stand up for his native land.
When Ostap becomes aware of what happened to Andriy, he takes this news rather coolly. He is not trying to protect his brother, despite the fact that he loves him. After all, he made his choice, there is no need to interfere with him. However, after this choice, they cease to be brothers and become enemies. And such an attitude towards betrayal can characterize Ostap as true to his life principles. Even for the sake of a loved one, he does not compromise these principles. An extremely strong character appears before the reader, for whom duty to his native land is paramount.
One of the most terrible pictures in the whole story is the death of Ostap. It is at this moment that he shows the full power of his character. The hero does not allow enemies to enjoy the sight of his pain. From him they heard no sound, no request for mercy. His only cry was to his father, and he heard him. And this consolation meant more to the hero than the tears of the mother or bride. In response, Ostap heard that his father loved him and supported him at the last moment. In addition, the hero heard that his father is still alive, which means that their work has not yet died. Native land will not remain without revenge until then, as long as at least one brave warrior is alive.
