Grapes "beauty": description of the variety
The shrubs of this hybrid are distinguished by a multi-level deep system of rhizomes, which ensures its rapid growth and ripening of fruits. Breeders do not recommend crossing this culture on their own - it is quite enough to plant a few seedlings from an adult bush. The first fruits will not differ from the mother form.
Grapes varieties "beauty", a photo of which we placed in this article, is a medium-growth bushes with bisexual flowers. Shoots and vine ripen on average 80-90%. This variety is resistant to many diseases dangerous to grapes, in particular, to mildew. It gives a stable harvest and is famous for its excellent commercial qualities. The fruits ripen on the 110th day from the moment when the first bud is dissolved.
Brush magnificent grapes "beauty" for the first time you can cut three years after planting. The clusters of this variety ripen well and have a very attractive appearance. Each brush weighs from 400 grams to kilograms.
They are painted in a pinkish-blue color with a slight coral shade. They contain a high content of sugars and acids. Therefore, juices are prepared from it, dried fruits are made and, of course, it is perfectly suitable for fresh consumption. Subject to all the rules of agricultural technology, the grapes “beauty”, the photo and description of which is now published by all publications on gardening, pleases with berries weighing from seven to twelve grams. They are elongated with a pointed tip, covered with a rather dense skin.
Judging by the reviews, the grape variety “beauty” is practically free of seeds in the pulp or there are no more than two of them. The flesh is juicy and has a very pleasant taste with sourness and a refreshing aftertaste. If you want to grow on your site grapes "beauty", a photo of which we have posted in this article, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the rules of agricultural engineering.
The grapes of this variety has established itself as the sun and light-loving, like most varieties of this crop. It can be planted in any soil that has an average acidity, but at the same time there must be good drainage on the site.
The cuttings will feel particularly comfortable on the south-western and southern slopes of the garden. In colder regions, these can be walls and fences. It is better not to plant grapes "beauty" in areas where moisture and cold air stagnates. Black earth, sandy, stony and rubble soils are excellent for planting. Such soils will provide high quality berries. Undesirable for shrubs are saline soils and highly wetlands, in which groundwater rises above one hundred and fifty centimeters from the surface.
Before planting grapes "beauty", a photo of which is presented in the review, you must carefully dig up the site, the acidic soil - lime and fertilize with manure and humus. A complex of growth vitamins is introduced into poor soil. Experienced winegrowers recommend adding crushed stone to the planting pit, which should be mixed with sand and soil - this is necessary for aeration and improving the composition of the soil.
Superphosphates must be added to the soil containing phosphorus. Grapes saplings "beauty" are planted at a depth of at least sixty centimeters - this will help protect the rhizomes from winter frosts. When planting cuttings, it is important to ensure that the vaccination site (if any) is slightly above the level of the soil. Planted cuttings are tied to pre-prepared wooden or metal trellis (supports). Then the bushes are plentifully watered (three buckets under each bush) and mulch.
If you plant bushes along a fence or wall, the distance between them should be at least 120 centimeters. Between plants planted in an open area, the distance should be at least one and a half meters.
Grapes "beauty", judging by the reviews of gardeners, easy to grow. He needs timely watering, mulching and compulsory shelter for the winter. In addition, the necessary pruning of bushes, fertilizing and protection from common diseases and pests.
How to water the grapes?
In the first year of the grapes "beauty" watered often. On rainy days - once every seven days, in the summer heat - every two days. In the second year, two types of irrigation are used - vegetative and water recharge. About a week before harvesting, watering is stopped completely.
This simple procedure makes it possible to retain moisture in the soil, slow down the growth of weeds and accelerate the accumulation of nitrogen compounds. They are formed as a result of the vital activity of beneficial bacteria in the soil — specialists call this process nitrification. For mulching grapes "beauty" use straw, dung, humus.
Shelter for the winter
This variety needs shelter. This is especially important for areas with little snowy winters. A small hole is dug around the bush, the trunk is covered with earth and a bucket of sawdust to keep the heat better.The vine is harvested, tied up in a loose bundle and hidden in the ground. Cover with cardboard. They remove such a shelter not earlier than April, when the snow will completely melt.
Pruning grapes "beauty" is necessary in order to increase the yield and improve the quality of the fruit. In the first year, in early August, only the tops of the cuttings are removed. When the leaves fall on the vine, you should leave no more than three or four buds on it. In the second year, on the bush in the fall, four of the strongest and healthiest branches are selected, and everything above the fifth eye is removed from them.
In addition, remove dry and weak branches. In the third year, pruning is carried out in October: one is left on the vine, the most powerful sprout, which must be cut into five buds. By four years, the grapes "beauty" should have four branches.
In the first year of development of the bush, it does not need additional feeding: it has enough nutrients obtained during planting. At different periods of development of the plant grapes "beauty" need a variety of fertilizers. In early spring, when the root system is developing intensively, the green mass and shoots grow, the grapes need more nitrogen fertilizers.
When flowers bloom, and the berries begin to ripen, phosphorus and potassium should be added to the soil to enhance the accumulation of sugar in them, as well as the active maturation of the shoots. During the digging of the soil in the autumn, once every three years organic fertilizers must be applied to the soil - peat, compost, manure.
In dry or liquid form, mineral fertilizers are applied every year in summer. In April, before removing the shelter, it is necessary to add superphosphates with potassium salt and ammonium nitrate under the bushes. Top dressing is also needed at the end of May about a month before the start of flowering. Dilute mineral fertilizers in water and pour it into shallow grooves, which must first be excavated between rows of bushes.
Grapes "beauty" needs regular preventive measures to protect against mildew, gray rot, from bumblebees and wasps, which cause serious damage to the brushes. If you find whitish spots on the upper parts of the leaves that spread to the greens and ovaries, it means that the grapes are affected by mildew or powdery mildew. This is dangerous because the ovaries dry up and fall off.
Gray rot usually occurs during the rainy season.To combat these diseases, you can use drugs such as Amistar, Radomil, which are sold in specialized stores. To prevent infection of bushes with rot, vine leaves are treated three or four times with fungicides every season: Tanos, Ronilan, Profit, Rooflar, Sumileks.
Grapes "beauty": reviews and recommendations of gardeners
Experienced winegrowers and beginners in gardening have appreciated the qualities of this hybrid and willingly grow it in their plots. Some receive cuttings as a gift from friends and acquaintances, and many acquire them in specialized stores, markets, farms and nurseries. According to gardeners, this variety is attractive because its care does not require serious agrotechnical skills. That is why the hybrid "beauty" is considered one of the most popular.
Without exception, the growers note the great taste of berries with a delicate floral aroma, subtle hints of vanilla and cherry Experts do not recommend leaving the bushes un harvested on the bushes, as wasps and bumblebees can significantly damage it.That is what gardeners consider one of the shortcomings of the variety.
Sometimes "beauty", like most varieties of hybrids, in some seasons, shows instability and the formation of berries, having different shapes, slight shedding. The disadvantages of the variety include the cracking of berries. This happens regardless of the weather - and in the heat, and in the rain, with sufficient watering and with its lack. As a result, up to 60% of the berries may become unusable. Is it possible to deal with this?
It is necessary to grow the crop before cracking - in time to cut the clusters, as soon as they matured. In this case, even a day of lateness plays a significant role. Often the berries crack on the already cut brushes. To prevent this, the following rules must be followed:
- conduct scant but regular irrigation using drainage;
- about seven days before the harvest, the grapes must be sprayed with calcium nitrate (calcium nitrate solution);
- You can use the natural growth stimulator "Gibberellin." They are treated with inflorescences during flowering. As a result, the berries become seedless, do not burst, the pea disappears (chopping the berries).
This grape is chosen by gardeners who closely monitor the selection of new products and rely on a large and early harvest. Positive feedback about it is much more than negative. But at the same time, planting this young hybrid form, which has a complex genotype, we must be prepared for the fact that many questions arising in the process of growing will have to be answered independently.
